It’s ridiculous the price of aero bikes. There is more savings in handlebars, tyres, aero helmet or simply an aero position than there is between the Eurobike and a Canyon Aeroad. $10,000 for an aero bike versus $1000 for a cheap bike that potentially has the exact same materials and time in it.

What’s next: GYRO stabilizers on bikes managed by AI. Perfect entry and exits into curves and crash reduction. Also no embarrassing falls because you forgot to un-clip.

  6. richard carr on May 16, 2023 at 9:09 am

BALLOXS all of it bikes were 1kg lighter so up climbs less watts used n faster ALSO ALL SPRINTERS WERE MUCH FASTER A DECADE AGO IE; CAVENDISH ,SEGAN ETC AND THEY ALL SUCK ON NEW HEAVEY "AERO " SHITE BIKES
YA I SAID IT PUT THE TOP 10 on a race bike from a decade ago THEN LETS SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO !!

  7. RyuujinUSA on May 16, 2023 at 9:10 am

AI will improve cycling. AI engineers and designers will develop faster and better stuff.

#AskGCNTech How do pro teams bed in new disc brake pads ? If you need to install 20+ bikes, I can’t imagine they take them out for a 20-min "bedding in ride". Do they have another procedure?

  11. Jack42Frost on May 16, 2023 at 9:16 am

It’s not the tech, riders don’t smoke any more.

Next Giro tech video: Oli sat on the toilet in the UAE bus proclaiming: “The UCI has no jurisdiction here! 👍”

  16. Crypto Que on May 16, 2023 at 9:23 am

Was not expecting “Mo Powa BehBeh” from Donut Media on GCN Tech 😂

  17. Greg Marcus on May 16, 2023 at 9:29 am

i would agree that its possibly better use of EPO and other drugs and bigger chainrings. That would make things faster for sure. None of this Aero and disc brake BS.

  18. David Fritz on May 16, 2023 at 9:30 am

#gcntech I tried waxing my chain and I think I must be doing it wrong… I’m still slow

  19. Ron Orr on May 16, 2023 at 9:30 am

What an elitist load of twaddle. You guys need to humble yourselves. I switched off at the gold leaf Dubai bike nonsense. You should be embarrassed putting your name to this content.

  21. Christian keim on May 16, 2023 at 9:31 am

Or. Doping has gotten more sophisticated and that combined with proper diet and proper training, you are a well oiled machine.

But no we can dream doping left cycling. It’s a lovely thought….

  22. Steve Mead on May 16, 2023 at 9:31 am

because the drugs are faster than ever

  23. Crypto Que on May 16, 2023 at 9:31 am

    Not “UCI Reach arounds” 😂

  24. TenSapphires on May 16, 2023 at 9:33 am

I would like to se white rims! Instead of all black deep rims with tanwall tires why not white rims+black tires? We had white rims in rim brake era but not on disc brake rims?

  25. Kevin O'Brien on May 16, 2023 at 9:34 am

Why is it cynical to suggest that cycling may have a doping problem? Is there not a tonne of historical evidence to make you wary of believing what you see? Ah maybe it is clean now but can’t be sure

  26. Jürgen Roscher on May 16, 2023 at 9:34 am

Especially with the shoes there is still a lot of aero potential. A cycling shoe with 2 Boa Fit systems on the side still produces unnecessary air resistance. Shoes with Boa systems in the middle, i.e. directly in front of the leg, are still rare and very expensive.

  27. Luke Batty on May 16, 2023 at 9:39 am

Great video and great effort. Would like to see how it goes when your in full health? Also well put, doesn’t always go your way but should be proud to give it a go

  28. MarkC on May 16, 2023 at 9:40 am

We should add cycling is a lot more popular now then the niche sport of the 80’s and 90’s, the sport is drawing in more athletes which will raise standards across the board.

The vintage sunglasses I’d like to see come back- the Rudy Project Superperformance from the 80s- the ones Lemond wore while on PDM, or Moreno Argentin…or the Tayos from the 90s…

  31. Joseph Piskac on May 16, 2023 at 9:43 am

    Love you guys!

  32. Brett Barnett on May 16, 2023 at 9:45 am

#AskGCNTech I am considering buying a Tri/TT bike for upcoming triathlon events and due to budget am looking at older models (~10 years old) without modern tech/aerodynamics. Given that these are shorter distance, I can use my road bike (‘23 Aeroad CF SLX). Would I be better served on an older TT bike with medium depth wheels or road bike with deeper wheels or a disc wheel?

  33. Alex Peka on May 16, 2023 at 9:46 am

The UCI will slowly relax the rules to give bike makes something to advertise and give incentive for upgrading

  34. JibbaJabber on May 16, 2023 at 9:47 am

@20:50 ‘Sat on the toilet, w*nk in the shower’.
Wow, that bus must be sick💦

  35. Bigger Tree on May 16, 2023 at 9:50 am

The resident Phd chemist should have a series of videos on the effects of HGH, TRT, and EPO. Maybe an Alpe d’ Huez before and after. For science of course.

  36. Tim Davies on May 16, 2023 at 9:50 am

George Fox, on a TT bike, with dropped bars you mean…

  37. D S on May 16, 2023 at 9:51 am

Ollie often reminds me of the Nirvana lyric "I wish I was like you, easily amused."

  38. Rob Lucchetti on May 16, 2023 at 9:52 am

I think the reason for a lot of cynicism, especially with aero, is that people simply do not believe aero makes any difference in anything slower than a car; and even then a lot of folks think you need to be in an F1 car before aero becomes "a thing". Trying to convince people that a bike, the thing thing they rode as children, is actually affected by aerodynamics naturally seems like a huge stretch.

  39. Cowieson on May 16, 2023 at 9:53 am

I know that pronunciation nit picks are pretty irrelevant, but it does hit the ear strangely that most of the GCN presenters seem to pronounce "giro" as "zhiro"; it’s giro! as in literally the way you pronounce the letter g on its own – gee – with a "ro" on the end. Giro! :p

  40. richard carr on May 16, 2023 at 9:53 am

SO HOW MANY HAVE BEATING EDDIE MERCX 1 HR RECORD ON AN AERO ROAD BIKE ??

  41. seattlegrrlie on May 16, 2023 at 9:53 am

Not to get into whether Zed or Zee is better, but Oakley is a California, USA brand which means it is pronounced "Zee"

  42. JibbaJabber on May 16, 2023 at 9:53 am

@13:27 Nothing unusual there – he’s wearing a skinsuit, duh.

  43. G60syncro on May 16, 2023 at 9:55 am

Aw! Donut media shout out!! As a car guy I love!! You Should get Manon to race one of the guys on the track and get Pumphrey riding something with just 2 wheels!!

  44. emma bird on May 16, 2023 at 9:56 am

Oh Ollie. You are always critising photography in the vault but you missed the post growing out of ronorr’s brake hood!
Gold bikes? Not one for the weight weenies then.
Hooray, "comments of the week" without a jingle, fab.

  45. toshman99 on May 16, 2023 at 9:58 am

Wierd i searched individual time trials and there is nothing really in top 10 from last decade. I actully dont think new equipment is as fast or rather much faster than from decade before…..

  46. Jerry Roberts on May 16, 2023 at 9:58 am

60% better traing and nutrition 30% better doping 10% better tech my opinion

A full Dura-Ace Canyon Aeroad with a limited edition paint job for 9000 Euros? That’s not a bad price at all.
