Dear Shimano, please ask me to upgrade my drivetrain as well. Thanks

  2. Emrys Jones on March 27, 2023 at 6:52 am

just under £1000 for a canyon?????????

  3. Andy Hodge on March 27, 2023 at 6:52 am

Complete waste of time to put the best components on an average frame . This video serves only to advertise Shimano Dura Ace and although I’ve clearly watched this video the fact that GCN just parrots the cycle industry pr machine is why I no longer watch . I just needed this reminder of that fact . Thanks you’re welcome . Ps I know they are not the only channel that does this but…..

  4. Tom Edward on March 27, 2023 at 6:55 am

Not exactly a practical upgrade video. Choosing a group set that costs almost as much as the bike is not for most people. But then again this channel does what its sponsors request I suppose.

  5. kevo balchan on March 27, 2023 at 6:55 am

Is this a 21 speed bike?

  6. 10after10 on March 27, 2023 at 6:57 am

Most idiotic video ever. NO ONE would ever do this.

  7. MalaysiaDentist on March 27, 2023 at 7:00 am

    Built it from the Eurobike!

  8. MarlonM on March 27, 2023 at 7:03 am

This video is way cool and entertaining; however, it is not a build of "the people."

  9. Mark timothy Ho on March 27, 2023 at 7:03 am

    when is the next episode?

  10. ponuryhutnik on March 27, 2023 at 7:04 am

Nice ad, GCN… First road bike? So let’s imagine I’ve got some bargain on used "excellent shape" alu Canyon, and I’m feelin’ high, ’cause it’s a light blue pretty arrow for me right now. It’s set with good enough but newest Sora, and all of the new features like through axles, HT2, apart from hydraulics, but to be honest I like something I can easily service myself, so it’s cool. So what to change? Well I might search for some high rim wheels, but cheap, ’cause I only like the look. And definately I’d change that generic stem. And get some nice blue bartape. If I’d really get into cycling with focusing on cadence and some aero and comfort, I would search for higher gear stuff and probably better fork and bars? But just for amateur riding to be fit it’s more about durability for good price and easy service than fancy pricy lightweigh aero stuff… I don’t get you GCN. Entry level used road bike for a rookie is not Canyon AL with through axles and HT2 worth quite a lot even used, but something like older Giant, Trek, Merida etc., or some local brand, with older groupset, QR wheels with rim brakes and probably without carbon fork. Few years ago I wanted to check what’s so cool about road bikes, I’d bought old steel Koga Miyata with really old RSX group, probably second ever model of shimano ‘brifters’ and nice chrome-polished look. Most importantly it fits me well, I have fun riding it and servicing it, so why should I change anything apart from bartape, pedals or tires? Should I install some older Dura Ace too build up my ego and for marginal not really important gains in amateur cycling?

  17. Nilred on March 27, 2023 at 7:13 am

Strangly i couldn’t find it for under 1000 pounds now.

  18. Michael B on March 27, 2023 at 7:13 am

I own bikes with mechanical and hydraulic disc brakes, and yes, there is a difference. Night and day? Hardly, but we got to push those upgrades, and spend, spend, spend.

  19. Dong-yoon Lim on March 27, 2023 at 7:14 am

Is Canyon AL bikes good for beginners?

  20. Gerto Quevedo on March 27, 2023 at 7:15 am

    Upgradititis!
    Disease of unsatisfied cyclists.
    Guilty!

Have you upgraded your first bike, or did you get a new one?

  25. Christian Rain Doroja on March 27, 2023 at 7:20 am

Give me your old parts plss🥹

  26. Not the Messiah on March 27, 2023 at 7:20 am

I bought a £60 carrera virtuoso from a local pawn shop not really knowing which much about bikes but turns out it has shimano 105 brakes and Claris shifters.
I was going to buy a new bike for £1000 but the components are seemingly not as good.
Now I don’t know what to do

  27. Stevem273 on March 27, 2023 at 7:20 am

    Where is episode 2?

  28. finallyonethatworks on March 27, 2023 at 7:20 am

I think we all know what you need to do next, full dura ace for the euro bike

  29. Dariel Padron on March 27, 2023 at 7:24 am

  30. Brian Calvery on March 27, 2023 at 7:24 am

Should have done this to the Pinarello 🚀

  32. Lake District cyclist on March 27, 2023 at 7:27 am

    When is the next ep?

  33. Sr. D on March 27, 2023 at 7:27 am

Yeah, know major cycling channels trying to sell to the crowd the idea that entry level road bike starts at 1100€/£/$…go figure.

  34. MTB Scotland on March 27, 2023 at 7:31 am

first thing I did when I bought my bike was swap wheels. Saved 500g and it only cost £171 due to black friday. Changed saddle for personal preference, put a carbon post on it and new tyres (wanted to go tubeless). Bonus was loosing some gramage. What you did isn’t really normal. Would like to see the effect of everything you changed. Did it actually make the bike easier to ride. I noticed the difference the tyres made pretty quickly.

  35. Kristian Dawe on March 27, 2023 at 7:32 am

I thought sora was 9 speed

  36. metpham on March 27, 2023 at 7:34 am

    great

  37. Szymon Zimny on March 27, 2023 at 7:36 am

Is ep. 2 still in the making?

  38. henry iba on March 27, 2023 at 7:36 am

Dura Ace DI2 as an upgrade from Sora on an alum frame? I’m thinking more like 105 and entry level Fulcrum wheels (racing 7).

  39. Sir Prizse on March 27, 2023 at 7:39 am

I think you reach the last step on the way to becoming an proper amateur cyclist when you start upgrading an "old" bike or even building a custom bike. When you invest so much time, love and money, it has already become your main hobby.

The people who just buy a good upper mid-range road bike are in a different category, because those people who build there bike themselves have a different relationship to it.

  40. Titus Torres on March 27, 2023 at 7:40 am

Bro my bike is a chromolt minivelo
With m.o.b pedals and araya 20×1.75
    Rims acera hubs
    Claris sti
    Its under 10 kilos
    + its under 300$

  41. Sebastian Leal on March 27, 2023 at 7:41 am

    What happened with this project?

  42. Kvs1989 on March 27, 2023 at 7:41 am

Who tf goes from sora to dura Ace. It’s like from a second hand car to a Ferrari. Just put 105 R7000 on the bike it’s allready a huge upgrade and an 11 speed.

  43. mirai on March 27, 2023 at 7:42 am

upgrades only cost six times the price of the bike

  44. smashin1988 on March 27, 2023 at 7:42 am

Where is Ep. 2 and 3?

  45. Eummer Mendoza on March 27, 2023 at 7:43 am

  46. Yukii on March 27, 2023 at 7:46 am

    when is shimano gonna have a 13 speed groupset ;-;

  47. Andrew Kolb on March 27, 2023 at 7:47 am

I took an Emonda ALR and did the same thing.

  48. jellyfishsalad on March 27, 2023 at 7:48 am

Does dura ace have bigger sprockets now for hills?

  49. hollci87 on March 27, 2023 at 7:48 am

When can next episode be expected? 🧐

  50. 钱Charles on March 27, 2023 at 7:50 am

I’ve been told that upgrade the group set on entry level bike is stupid and wasting money. Everyone told me that I should upgrade wheels, tires and brake. And buy a carbon bike when I feel the entry level shimano sora is not enough. But the problem is I can’t afford a carbon bike. Can I still upgrade the group set? I really want to try the shimano 105😚
