What better place than the Tour de France to launch the latest and greatest cycling products? Alongside new bikes and components, there was an array of new helmets on display at the 2017 race.
Here are our favourite five brand new road race lids.
You can also add new helmets from Spiuk, Limar, Ekoi, Abus and Bontrager (even if the Velocis was worn during the Dauphiné).
Almost every team add a new helmet for this Tour.

There is nothing more annoying than a fly or wasp underneath your helmet, so even the most advanced one without bug net is crap. Or maybe flies avoid super professional bikers heads? 😉

I love the Lazer and the Giro. Though, if I were to choose, I’d go with the Giro. I like the option of switching between vent and aero, but I’ve always been a fan of ‘the fewer moving parts, the less to go wrong’. Plus the weight penalty makes it a shoe in for Giro.

I like my kask. Always will. Hard to change brands. I like the leather strap and the reflective lining on the straps. The other helmets look cool, but I kask make me feel safer

Why is there no mention of what head shape these helmets are suitable for? Does any helmet manufacturer recognise the fact that this needs to be taken into consideration?
I have a long narrow head shape and it is a nightmare to find a suitable helmet! Specialised chamonix fits me perfectly but that’s the only one I can find and it’s very much a basic lid, i’v contacted helmet manufacturers about this and have had no response at all,it’s a mystery why it’s not clearly labeled on all helmets what head shape it’s suitable for!!!
I just wrap my head with old inner tubes.
"MIPS Technology" also know as dangerous snake oil with no impartial testing. Please don’t advertise for these guys. Their marketing practices prey on fear and their research methodology and results have been thoroughly debunked by impartial groups. I don’t care about the rigor of "compliance", "aero", or "wattage" gains testing but no company should apply that sloppy marketing bs to safety standards. Please don’t hurt your brand by supporting these people.
That Giro Vanquish looks like something from the 1980’s
I think the bike industry urgently needs good design in helmets, technology, safety and performance apart, the aesthetics are horrible.
Really like the look of the Vanquish. Hope it gets released soon.
It’s amazing that bike manufactures will stop at nothing to save a watt or cut 10g from a bike, yet riders helmet manufacturers havent dropped the weight of their lids for 20 years
