#askGMBN I am riding orbea hardtail and I am not riding some agressive offroad and I am considering buying a full face helmet. I am not new at mountain biking, but I am not a pro. So should I get a full face helmet or not? I am not a downhill racer, but I might start more agressive offroad and downhill. Please help!

    helllllllooooo
    so i have a 29er xc hardtail ( https://www.bulls-bikes.com/produkt/bulls-kingcobradisc29-582-15041?sku=582-15141_ZEG) and i have 5 questions
    1. How does a 29 to 27.5+ conversion change the ride feeling? (im 172cm and i got the wrong bike (i wanted the 27.5 version but it got mixed up and i first didnt realise it haha))
    2. How can i check if it is possible to convert my bike?
    3. How much does a conversion cost? (im 16 and im not going to spend like 1000โ‚ฌ on a wheel set)
    4. what do i need to buy new? (hub cassette ….)
    5. How can i make my bike more agressive without spending to much money? (stem, one by, …)

I think from memory the Bell super dh and giro switchblade blade have full dh certificarions. Possibly some misinformation there.

@ I’ve been looking to spend between $1500 and $2000 on a new bike, mainly the Trek Roscoe 8 and the specialized Stumpjumper ST, and i don’t know if I should get a really nice hardtail or a cheaper full suspension. What do you think I should get?

  21. ValenM on July 30, 2019 at 1:43 am

#AskGMBN hi guys. I have an Scott aspect 750 And I want to know if it is a good starter bike. I would like to have a full suspension enduro or dh bike but I donโ€™t have too much money. Should I modify the 750 or buy another one? There are not too much trails in my country, but there are some that are very good. I just start on this world and I would like some help

  22. Bill C on July 30, 2019 at 1:45 am

I’d like to put in a plug for convertible helmets. I bought a Bell Super DH MIPS which does pass the DH rating testing with the chin bar installed. It’s incredibly comfortable and has some great features. I love having that optional chin bar strapped on my pack when things are looking dicey.

  23. Lisa Rogers on July 30, 2019 at 1:46 am

#askgmbn. I have recently took the plunge and bought some Shimano Saint flat pedals and a pair of Five Ten Freerider shoes. When I ride using the flat pedals I currently done feel like I have any control over the bike. My hands go numb and my feet start to hurt as well. I have a Boardman FS Team (2014). I have recently change the original 700mm Bar and 70mm stem to a 760mm Sam Hill signature bar and a 60mm Funn Funnduro stem. I have spent sometime getting the bar in the correct position so my hands don’t go numb. I have used clipless pedals for over 20 years. I don’t think I have a vice like grip when using flat pedals. I feel it could be that I’m putting too much weigh over the bars and on to the pedals. If I am right in thinking this is there anything I could try. The ride I tried using my flat pedals was quite flat and short.

  24. BOo MonSter on July 30, 2019 at 1:47 am

In regards to the helmet question, I was in the same position and I went with a fox proframe. I am very happy with my choice, super breathable and comfortable enough for a full day of pedalling while being safe enough for a full day of downhill.

  35. Nathan Wimhurst on July 30, 2019 at 1:56 am

#AskGMBN Hey guys I have learnt so much from your channel big hats off. I am looking at upgrading from my 15yr old Avanti Hammer Pro which has served me very well. I am 177cm and around the 100kg mark. I am looking at either the 2019 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp or the 2019 Trek fuel Ex 8 as both have very similar specs and are available in my local stores not sure which way to go. The second dilemma is, is it worth spending the extra to move up to either the 2019 Specilized Stumpjumper Comp Carbon or the 2019 Trek fuel Ex 9.8 as they to have very similar specs. I am just worried about the Carbon actually getting damaged with my amazing and constant crashing technique. Any help would be greatly appreciated. #AskGMBN

#AskGMBN #AskGMBNTech I’m riding downhill since 3 years now and im going search a new bike! My question is: Is the reach really that important? there are so nice looking bikes with a short reach! I’m used to bikes with a reach above 480mm! Would be nice if you could answer it! ps. love the channel!

#AskGMBN I am looking to upgrade from my current Intense Tracer 27.5 to a YT Jeffsy Al Base, I am switching bikes since I am 6’2 and my Intense is a medium frame and is much too small. Should I get a large frame for the YT or an xl frame? I fit in either category since there is an overlap and I am in the middle.

  45. Mtb Trail Hub on July 30, 2019 at 2:03 am

Completely agree with you both there about having 2 helmets, A helmet that tries to do both is never going to be as good as one specific for each style of riding.

  46. Rainbow Freak on July 30, 2019 at 2:04 am

    I like GMBN.
But I have extended my fork…travel..and shortened the plastic piece that makes the fork stiffer..yeah…and blown my oil rebound thing…before extension…

#AskGMBN Can you make your rear shock to propel your jump higher? Or is it enitirely for gripping ang absorbing shock from drops?

  48. Alex Gordon on July 30, 2019 at 2:07 am

i met a dude who’s wife wouldn’t ride much anymore because she broke her face in multiple places on walnut trails here in austin. ๐Ÿ™ she broke her jaw, her cheek, lost teeth, etc … it was bad… so… grace on your face y’all. ๐Ÿ™‚ also i would say learn how to bail too before you hit the crazy downhill stuff… especially if you ride a short hardtail with not so great front shocks and are doing tricky slippery stuff… having your front tire get caught going downhill and everything else -including yourself- going over it is not fun. ha!… and personally, i would never clip in – does not feel safe to me at all! i’d rather scrape my shins and ankles to the bone than get stuck on a bike and being able to bail on a big jump, or on a gravel wash, or into a tree ha anyway
