If i remember correctly, the trails in Sedona is tended by usfs and usfs basically prohibits all ebikes on single track trails mtb trails. The only offroad trails they permit ebikes on is ohv. It’s same thing for usfs ca areas like the Los Angeles national forest/altadena. It’s just that usfs enforces it more at Sedona probably because it’s a popular destination. Park rules and bans are really dependent on whose tending the park and also funding. From what I’ve heard, tickets are around 240$, but someone was ticketed 500$. Reasons for bans vary but most common reasons are fire hazard, high powered emotos messing up trails, and accidents. It’s unfortunate for emtb and a risk we take when we ride somewhere it’s not permitted and not much we can really do. But as a community, we can atleast try and solve one of the issues by not riding emotos on these trails. I know alot of the emoto dudes will just say f it and still ride, but that only adds fuel to the fire and makes things worst for the emtb crowd (ocparks is banning ebikes too in certain parks).
