NFL Bans 10 Helmets Starting In 2018 || Vicis Zero1 Ranks #1

For the first time ever, the NFL has banned specific types of helmets for use starting in 2018. Players like Tom Brady and Drew Brees have traditionally worn helmets that are no longer allowed and they have one more season to find a new helmet. Will they stick with their VSR4 for the 2018 season? Or will they make a switch now knowing that they will have to make a change for 2019 anyway? For any of the 10 helmets now banned by the NFL, only players who wore them in 2017 will be allowed to wear them in 2018. No one will be allowed to wear them after the 2018 season.

Vicis has once again performed the best in the lab outdoing their own helmet from 2017 by making tweaks and dropping the weight. Following the Vicis Zero1 helmets are the Riddell SpeedFlex Precision Fit, Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II, and Schutt Air XP Pro VTD to round out the top 5.

I wore the Riddell VSR4 when I was in school in the 90’s. I’ve always liked that look. I didn’t like the newer helmets too much, like the Schutt F7. But they are growing on me now. I’d rather have my son wear one of the safest helmets, no matter what! Love your videos guys!

The real cause of Concusions and CTE and why so many former NFL players suffer from it isn’t because the NFL helmets over the past 20 or so years haven’t been safe, it’s because "certain types" of players have been using their heads as weapons. All you need to do is pay closer attention when a player is being tackled and you’ll always see someone on the defense (usually the same player doing all the time) come flying in leading with their head. Once you see these same players doing it over and over again watch and listen to them after the game in interviews or their Twitter posts and you’ll see they don’t have much upstairs to work with because they have thicker skulls especially in the forehead and top areas. When you have a 2"- 4" thick skull why not use it as a weapon for your advantage.

  6. Hayes Green on June 27, 2019 at 8:15 pm

Vicis and schutt are ugly. I would only wear Speed or Speedflex

  7. Christian Uva on June 27, 2019 at 8:16 pm

Right now I wear a Riddell Speed, because that’s what my high school program gave me, but if I had a say in it I would get either a Vicis, a SpeedFlex, or a Vengeance Z10.

  8. abcdef ghijkl on June 27, 2019 at 8:16 pm

I currently wear a riddell speed but next season I will be wearing a speedflex

When I played in high school I had a Riddell VSR4 until my junior year of high school when I switched to the riddell revolution helmet…I’ve gotta tell you the difference between 6 holes is amazing…especially during two a days…

I wear a sped flex and I personally love them as they are very comfortable and I feel really safe in them as I’ve been hit in the head multiple times while wearing a speed flex and I haven’t been hurt and I feel much safer in them simply because they feel really sturdy and strong unlike the shutt helmets that my school has.

I’ve got the riddell foundation/ classic. It’s so much better than the revo speed cause it doesn’t have the cloth pads that smell.

  23. Jack Coleman on June 27, 2019 at 8:33 pm

Great…I have the worst helmet on the list that is 8 years old. (It is the Schutt air xp)

I need to get a speed flex or a vicis helmet next season so my noggin is all protected

  24. Mitchell Sorrells on June 27, 2019 at 8:34 pm

My son wears the Riddell Speedflex precision and has for two seasons. He was electronically fitted by a Riddell rep and the helmets awesome. He’s younger and growing, so the vicis price is a little steep for our budget. Im telling you the Riddell is amazing!!! Several times in hard helmet to helmet hits he had no issued with pain or any signs of injury, when the other kid had clear pain and one actually had to sit out due to a headache. My boy was checked and showed no signs as the other kids. The helmet is great!!! If can afford one get it. The top three helmets are better than nothing.

  25. Tysoon on June 27, 2019 at 8:37 pm

  30. uncle shou on June 27, 2019 at 8:39 pm

Why is the vicis zero1 so dang expensive???

  31. TwinBrod on June 27, 2019 at 8:40 pm

What are egg heads really called? I call them egg heads I’m not sure if anyone else does. It’s the one that Antonio Brown and Tom Brady used to wear.

  32. corvettez06usa on June 27, 2019 at 8:40 pm

The VSR4 is so classic, the Revo and those aerodynamic styles with all the angles and vents just look corny to me. I’m from Cincinnati and the first thing I noticed when those helmets started popping up around maybe 2012 or so is they have less stripes. Safety is important of course, but looks wise that VSR4 is just so clean and iconic.

  33. Cooper Lovelace on June 27, 2019 at 8:40 pm

I use speed flex but I want to to go to the shutt F7

  34. Andrew Logan on June 27, 2019 at 8:41 pm

  37. bpm1606 on June 27, 2019 at 8:43 pm

Surprised the SG didn’t rate so well. Knowing the reputation of the company in the racing industry. They always surpass the SFI requirements.
I think the NFL and the testing lab are looking at it wrong because of the different technology.

NFL players are wearing z10 still

  47. Ty Haight on June 27, 2019 at 9:02 pm

I play In grantsville,ut and we use Riddell speed helmets and I would like speed flex precision fit but I would also like to be able to have better padding In the helmet cause the original padding is’ent that comfortable and it takes a while for the pads to soften up and when we get the helmet the pads are pretty hard

  48. MUMU-2700 on June 27, 2019 at 9:03 pm

Pless everybody dont but speedflex people only buy it bcuz of the front thing on the helmet and design buy a schutt f7 vtd it is so gooooood
