In this video I’m going to give you my top picks for 27 inch bicycle tires.

Now you might wonder why would that be such a big deal. Well it isn’t really, unless you’re trying to find 27 inch bicycle tires, because there are not that many.

I found that out the hard way because the pair of Continental Gator Skin tires I had laying around ready to go onto the rims of my Bridgestone Submariner, they didn’t fit.

As it turned out 27 inch wheels were quite common back in the day, but not so much anymore. And considering the fact that the Submariner is from 1978 you understand why it had a more exotic sized wheelset.

So I did some research into the big brand names of the tire industry and came up with these options for 27 inch bicycle tires.

    Just bought new Bontrager T1. (27×1 1/4)
Only gone on two rides. So far I’m impressed. They are a little "heavy" at 440. That weight looks to be designed into the contact patch. I think Bontrager hit a sweet spot between durability, speed, and comfort.

My apologies for the black part at the beginning. Something obviously went wrong when I exported the video.

Thanks for the info. I’ve got myself an old Dawes galaxy with the original 1984 tyres still on that it came with so I’m needing to put fresh tyres on. I want to use it for abit if everything including commuting so my question is which is the best for avoid punchers? If there’s not much difference then I’ll just get the panaracer tyres like you have as they look great.
    Thanks

Pasela is the best for sure, superb grip and high Japanese quality, line up the logo with the valve stem for extra style points!

Just a question, is 27 1 3/8 tire the thickest tire for size 27 rim? Thanks

Seriously thank you for making this video. I have a 1987 Fuji that I don’t want to dump TOO much money into but want to get it close to period correct (minus clipless pedals and a modern saddle) and it originally did come with 27" wheels.

Hey sir. Just wanna ask if these 27" tires can be fit in those 27.5 wheels nowadays?

Cool choices/ looks; however you don’t cover the disadvantages of these tires; went to read extensive reviews on your choices and ppl out there seem to be having a different impression once they have these tires on their hands; my comment here is neutral ( not attacking or causing hostility )
