Reverse wrap is nice but goes against the grain so to speak when your hand slid up to the hoods or down in the drops, which causes it a lot to wrinkle or flare up on the edge

    nice

Amazing technique! Thanks for sharing! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Great job! Mine wears out regularly at the elbow of the bar before the levers. Is there a particular brand that is comfortable yet rugged? Is Silica preferred? Thanks for your suggestions..

Can this method be done on round handle bars. Not the flat (aero) one shown in the video?

  8. Alex Dyke on July 27, 2022 at 12:30 am

At what number on the bars do you normally put the shifters?

  9. KC Chiok on July 27, 2022 at 12:31 am

Ever since I noticed this trick; I have redo all my bartape to reverse wrap

Wrapping out to in its gonna unravel, wrapping in to out is in the direction of the force your hands are going to exert will end up fastening the tape tighterπŸ‘ everyone has their style

Nice video… A question, which garmin mount do you use?

Did this on my touring bike with surly cornerbars looks and feels good to me

  15. sAmiZZle82 on July 27, 2022 at 12:39 am

I thought you’re meant to wrap outward on the drops so your hands tighten the grip when riding instead of loosening it??

Great tip, great video, love it, thanks πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Just tried this for the 1st time. I always have trouble with the ending/cutting the tape at the top. Looks good now, hopefully the supacaz stays in place

  18. Wayslo on July 27, 2022 at 12:43 am

I am super stoked I found this video, I really like how clean the wrap looks without electrical tape. I’ve yet to test this over next few rides, but so far it looks and feels promising.

  19. Zukz World on July 27, 2022 at 12:45 am

Thanks, will do on my next wrapping.

  20. Aria Newell on July 27, 2022 at 12:47 am

It got a like from me but a hell no. It would make me crazy to have the tape backwards.

  21. Matt Beck on July 27, 2022 at 12:47 am

@gcperformance its been 1.5 years since you posted this vid originally. Are you still backing the reverse method? Im pretty good at wrapping my bars on my 21 Tarmac Pro but it consistently bunches or gaps form up top. Lots of sweat and humidity in FL. Only use Supacaz tape. Just curious if you are still wrapping reverse like this or have you gone back to bottom up? Thx. Love the vids/channel.

I want to take my perfectly fine lizard skins off to try this. Amazing video!

  23. Benjamin Lin on July 27, 2022 at 12:53 am

This will work if you are on the tops, hoods or drops on regular road bikes. This won’t work on singlespeeds and fixed bikes as its common to hold the bar along the curve when chillin and riding, pushing the tape outwards with out and down pressure since there is no actual hood, thus creating gaps along the curve.

  24. maskotero on July 27, 2022 at 12:54 am

    What wrap are you using?

  25. museves on July 27, 2022 at 12:54 am

I love reverse wrap, no tape to get wrinkled in hot weather after a month or 2

  26. Denny dT on July 27, 2022 at 12:56 am

Love it! Looks perfect on my venge. Great tutorial πŸ‘ŒπŸ». Thanks πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

  27. Anton David on July 27, 2022 at 12:57 am

Okay, I like to wrap the bar tape without using the electrical tape in the end, but whoever cycles a lot would understand that a slipping grip would rip the bar tape because it is wrapped against the force you put on the bar. So it is a no for me. It may not come off, but it will start to roll and that will annoy me a lot. I tried it after seeing this video – it didn’t work for me.

  28. Johnny Joseph on July 27, 2022 at 1:00 am

    Very clean.

  29. James Guirguis on July 27, 2022 at 1:00 am

Will this work on Supercaz star fade design?

  30. James S on July 27, 2022 at 1:01 am

3:32 if you’re shoving the excess into the bar why does it matter which way it’s cut?

  31. Justin Wong on July 27, 2022 at 1:01 am

There a reason you wrap towards the bike be away from the bike or could you do it both ways?

  32. flygopaten S.M. on July 27, 2022 at 1:02 am

    Good!

  33. Wasatch Ray on July 27, 2022 at 1:03 am

    Super clean

  34. Jon Lambert on July 27, 2022 at 1:04 am

Hello, I like your wrapping. First off, can this be done with Fizik bar tape? Do you think I can remove my Fizik Tempo tape that’s recently wrapped about 2 months ago, and then wrap it using your method? Or should I use a set of new tape?

  35. mdnasrulloh on July 27, 2022 at 1:05 am

That make bartape have a short life
    Btw good wrap

Wow looks super clean, never tapped from the top down, anyways my Aerofly 2 cracked right were you started (πŸ‹) hope I can get same clean look on Enve SES Aero

  38. Harriot10 on July 27, 2022 at 1:08 am

Thanks for the vid GC. I wrapped my prime aero bars from the drops and they didn’t look very good and where uncomfortable. I tried your method and they turned out pretty good. No more humps from finishing tape, also a lot smoother across the top.

I know electrical tape is the most common way everyone finishes off the wrap job but not me. I use wax twine. Every electrical tape shifts and comes loose, it’s just the glue doesn’t hold well especially if you live in a warmer climate. The wax twine comes in any color you want from Amazon and if you know how to install it it will stay put and never ever loosen.

anyone knows what handlebars those are? From Sworks

  45. Jesus Silva on July 27, 2022 at 1:15 am

Off topic question. What tires are those? And do you know if they make them in blue?

  46. 1 Sigma Cyclist on July 27, 2022 at 1:15 am

Done! I hate the look of tape. I have a couple bars to wrap soon, and I will be doing exactly this

  47. georgegarnerable on July 27, 2022 at 1:16 am

No no no no no no.

  48. Bow Valley Adventures on July 27, 2022 at 1:17 am

The problem with this method is now when your hands slide towards the hoods, the tape edges get pushed….always start from the bottom.

  49. LOGICAL JAY on July 27, 2022 at 1:17 am

How’s that brand of bar tape???..I hear mix reviews..whats a good bar tape that you would recommend using..??? I couldn’t get the specialized aero fly 2 bars so I went with the new improved prime Primavera aero bars..the new version Primavera looks like the aerofly 2 but without the little pieces to make it look flush..check the look out on Chain reaction cycles under "Primavera aero carbon"…they have an older model and now the newer model..alot good reviews over the month on the prime Primavera carbon bars..

Just did this and it turned out amazing. I’ll see how it performs on a group ride in the am.
