Cheap Bike Pro Rider VS Super Bike Amateur Rider!

Cheap Bike Pro Rider VS Super Bike Amateur Rider!

The modern hardcore hardtail is an incredibly capable steed, but can it really be as fast as a full suspension super bike? To find out, we pitted Nukeproof pro enduro racer Elliott Heap against amateur rider and GMBN crew member Ed Fletcher for a classic downhill race on Dyfi Bike Park’s Race Track. As the age-old question goes, is it the bike or the rider? Prepare for huge jumps, a crash and some gnarly steep tech!

Nice bike i love the battels

  2. Willy C MTB on January 3, 2023 at 1:42 am

Top end mtb? And you use a nukeproof mega? (Snapper) ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. DIY Backyard Automotive on January 3, 2023 at 1:43 am

As soon as the ‘cheap’ bike got described I stopped watching. What world are you living in where that is ‘cheap’. It has a Rockshox pike on it and is a Nukeproof scout.
The stuff on my bike basically costs half as much…
Obviously there is a reason for the Nukeproof scout, but come on, lets be real… This is not a ‘cheap’ build.

  4. Nik Tatarnic on January 3, 2023 at 1:45 am

    Ed killed it! Very impressive!

  5. Scott Davis on January 3, 2023 at 1:46 am

Happy new year everyone! Great vid to bring in the new year!

  6. Mighty FireLord on January 3, 2023 at 1:47 am

Would have been great to have both riders’ times on both bikes, to see how everything compare at a pro and an amateur level.

  7. Franรงois Joly on January 3, 2023 at 1:48 am

Michelin for the win!!!… hum… in french it sounds like shit actually… then keep on pronouncing Michelin the wrong way you bloody Brits ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. J. Alberto Gratacรณs on January 3, 2023 at 1:49 am

I have a ht and an enduro fs. I am surprised at how many times I get better times on the ht. You really have to pick your bike for the terrain. There are places in which one bike just struggles as opposed to the other.

  9. Richard Kobus on January 3, 2023 at 1:51 am

And now climbing on a xc bikes

  10. Samuel G on January 3, 2023 at 1:51 am

Budget build ๐Ÿ˜‚ hardly guys – love the content as always but cheap bike title is a bit of a stretch.

  11. Adam Miller on January 3, 2023 at 1:52 am

Just what a decent, down to earth rapid, nice bloke Elliot is. More of him on the channel please!

  12. Raff on January 3, 2023 at 1:53 am

    Happy New Year Everyone!!!

  13. Alex H. on January 3, 2023 at 1:53 am

Not sure a Scout counts are a "cheapbike".

  14. TD Outdoors on January 3, 2023 at 1:53 am

Pro on 26โ€, and amateur on 29โ€

Your version of a CHEAP bike differs from mine….That aint a cheap bike…!!

  17. Nolan Wolf on January 3, 2023 at 1:59 am

If the nukeproof scout is considered a budget bike then that’s a little worrying for the sport. Having an entry level bike at the cost of over 2000$ is insane.

  18. Rob on January 3, 2023 at 2:00 am

Elliotโ€™s always quality!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป his bike park tour with Warner is hilarious!๐Ÿ˜‚

  19. Sambro on January 3, 2023 at 2:00 am

I think Sam pilgrim has put this one to the test ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  20. Ryan Mac on January 3, 2023 at 2:03 am

Great content as always. I almost feel bad that I get to watch this for free!!

  21. Adam Allaker on January 3, 2023 at 2:05 am

That’s not a budget bike, what a wasted opportunity. Whole thing just felt like an advert for Nukeproof.

  22. Juluis Reyes on January 3, 2023 at 2:05 am

Ed is amazing though. I would not consider him as amateur. He’s got fundamental skills of being a rider.

  23. Ivan Filipoviฤ‡ on January 3, 2023 at 2:05 am

The good video would be if you put pro and moderate amateur on few types of bikes (budget HT, Enduro HT and Enduro FS) and then compare all times, that way you can see how fast is Pro on all types of bikes, and compare that to moderate amateur

  24. Douglas Young on January 3, 2023 at 2:06 am

Does having a heavy bike with cheaper wheels and drivetrain really make that much difference on a DH? Obviously fork quality and the fact that it’s a hard tail matter, but most of the "budget" stuff was kind of a moot point.
Let’s see a budget vs baller XC race.

  25. Florian Fuchs on January 3, 2023 at 2:07 am

    they have the same haircut….

  28. ruru ! on January 3, 2023 at 2:12 am

good fun, good sports! great vid!

  29. PaulyT on January 3, 2023 at 2:13 am

Def No. Not even Eds time.ahahaha ๐Ÿ™‚ Elliot sounds like a nice dude and humble. Keep it up guys.

  30. Douglas Young on January 3, 2023 at 2:16 am

Or what about a bling HT vs a budget full sus?

  31. Daniel Mores on January 3, 2023 at 2:16 am

"budget bike" … I think we might have different definitions.

  32. Camo_Cookie on January 3, 2023 at 2:16 am

Love how the โ€žbudgetโ€œ isnโ€™t budget. BUT. I understand the comparison here

  33. team 118 on January 3, 2023 at 2:20 am

Pro rider? Brayton could not have been available surely .. Or as cheap, as Heap! ๐Ÿค” Top Lad Elliott – thanks for the tip about Glenbenna ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  34. StuJM on January 3, 2023 at 2:20 am

Brilliant, get Elliot on more often, love his sense of humour and heโ€™s an amazing rider. Respect to Ed too.

  35. Tamiya Racing Mexico on January 3, 2023 at 2:20 am

"Budget" bike, very interesting, but yes as it was seen, skills do a lot.

  36. Craig Adams on January 3, 2023 at 2:21 am

All rider. I have a great bike but being a bit older, fear of crashing is what holds me back

  37. Windband1 on January 3, 2023 at 2:21 am

Proper fun!! Fair play mates. Cheers and happy new year.

  38. Zane on January 3, 2023 at 2:22 am

A video where you can see the blue sky and its not pouring?! Amazing

  39. Tandin Wangchuk on January 3, 2023 at 2:22 am

    Big fan sir ..
Can u help me get the MTB downhill full helmet sir plz ..

  40. Adam Wharmby on January 3, 2023 at 2:24 am

Rider skill will always win yeah the best bike will help but knowing how far to push that bike is the difference

  41. in_cognito on January 3, 2023 at 2:27 am

So clearly the hardtail can be fast. The real test is if it can stay fast over a full day. After two or three stages Elliott would be shattered.

  42. Jonathan Pacheco on January 3, 2023 at 2:28 am

That is not a cheap bike, neither a beginner rider

  43. Chris Prysok on January 3, 2023 at 2:28 am

Being 46 seconds behind a pro is very solid. Building technique and having access to trainer and all the nutrition the kid could close the 46 seconds.

  44. Kevin Ross on January 3, 2023 at 2:29 am

Ha, Iโ€™ll gladly take that โ€œbudgetโ€ bike all day on one of my local trails that has a ton of climbs

  45. BoBo The rice farmer on January 3, 2023 at 2:31 am

    Hahaha great vid

  46. 9paraneil on January 3, 2023 at 2:34 am

I understand that we all want to see the pro riders smashing it down double black runs on some piece of junk, however he also has to make sure he’s riding a bike that will withstand his riding ability and get him down the trail safely. A ยฃ300 halfords bike is probably not going to last long with this guy.

  47. Global Mountain Bike Network on January 3, 2023 at 2:36 am

Do you think you could get near either of Elliott’s times?

  48. Nic3 S3V3NTY TW0 on January 3, 2023 at 2:37 am

Even the budget bike is above my budget!
    ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

  49. Micael Pereira on January 3, 2023 at 2:38 am

Elliot Heap is such a nice guy and super fast!

  50. John B on January 3, 2023 at 2:40 am

That scout was not a budget build. It was more middle of the price build. It had a Pike on it which is a top level fork.
