Can you ride a Brompton off-road? | 4K

What’s up everyone, welcome back to tapecknows!
In today’s video, I took the M6L Brompton on a different route on my commute. I was riding off road, through some gravel paths and bridleways.

It’s safe to say it is doable, but it’s definitely a bumpy ride!

Sorry if some parts of the video are a bit shaky. I’m not sure if my GoPro Hero 8 couldn’t handle the terrain, if I forgot to turn on the stabilization or if the chest mount that I was wearing was too loose. I have a feeling it’s the latter though…

My Birdy also goes well off-road-due to the front suspension ! 🤙

Its good but when wet mud clogs up the mudguards very easily……

Thank you for taking us along on your interesting and varied ride to work.

Your route certainly covered a range of tracks, paths and roads and looked like an enjoyable early morning ride to blow away the cobwebs and get you focused for the day ahead!

You’re definitely going to need good lighting on the forested part of your route in winter, but it still should be an invigorating ride.

You really got a work out on that ride. Wow

Hopefully you had Marathon Plus tyres to avoid the punctures!

  7. Bobby Raise on July 31, 2022 at 12:38 am

Noce video mate, i was a bit worried that the Brompton wasn’t tough enough for off road or bumpy streets.

Hope you will continously use your brompton year in year out..good exercise too.

I offroad my Brommie regularly. A couple of weeks ago, I took it around a MTB track in the Sandwell Valley. No probs at all, although I did have to get out of the toe clips in a couple of places. A met a MTBer half way around – he looked surprised!

Glad to see the workforce standing by their product! (Or rather, sitting on their product!) 🙂

Hello everyone do you gays recommend for me ‘Brampton Electric’ as long distance ride with carrying bags for outdoor adventure for 5 days out of the city?

Thank you very much for the video. Would like to seek some advise from you. Do you think having knobby tires would make a better ride on off road? I was thinking of switching to a pair of knobby tires as I am riding more of off road trails. Thanks in advance. 🙂

Yeah – I regularly ride mine on similar tracks or trails – some much narrower than yours LOL.

So gravelbrompting is not a crime? I was a bit concerned taking my B(electric) on a short gravel track … still was fun to ride. I did it carefully avoiding the bigger holes and bumps, and everything went well.

Cute and reliable machine. I love my black edition.

    Thanks for your video.

I take my Brompton on gravel roads all the time. However, I did crash once due to the front wheel went into a rut covered by leaves and down I went , broke my collarbone. The small wheels just cannot handle road cracks or ruts or pot holes like bigger wheels can. I now avoid riding near the edge of the road on gravel roads.

Thanks for showing us a relatively long ride.
