I check first the hemp at the bottom of down tube at around the W shift levers for front gollision damage. Typically hemp happens BEFORE fork bent.

That’s basically an "Eddy Merckx" bicycle.
Cro-moly steel frame with square tapered crank set.
There was nothing wrong with the technology. Why did they change?

  14. timmy44 on December 10, 2020 at 9:45 pm

thats a good bike, Raleigh Int’ i think. good parts, late 70s it looks. My favorite is my 70 Fuji Finest all chrome, took two days of scraping the paint off to get to it. big fast bike.

This video was very helpful before I purchased my 1958 Shogun 10-speed. There is some surface rust on the cranks and its a little dirty within the internals and the back rim needs to be trued, but otherwise it’s a pretty cool bike!

  22. Scottg on December 10, 2020 at 9:55 pm

    Sage bicycle advice.

  27. Hyperiiz on December 10, 2020 at 9:59 pm

I got a Peugeot 70’ for 20$. Brakes wear missing and wheels were flat. Changed the gear shifter in the back and boom. I’m hauling ass

  28. koldfushen on December 10, 2020 at 10:00 pm

No doubt, this bloke’s hair-do really puts a unique spin on this presentation. Ultimately I think he plays Captain Obvious in another TV or Youtube commercial. In other words, most all of what he is says is just plain common sense. Only thing I would take issue with is that what he shows is NOT a vintage racing bike, but a mid-70s mas produced English frame with mass produced components, Nothing high-end or racing about this rascal. Nonetheless Kudos for the pig tails!

good video, im honestly not sure i could take you seriously with your hair like that, but you know your stuff!

  31. bla on December 10, 2020 at 10:02 pm

Also good to look at when you buy a bike:
Nipples and spokes, looks like they’re rusted together.. So if you want to twist them, they will brake. Also check tension of all the spokes (best if its equal).

Check the bottom bracket, the hubs, chain, sprockets (front and back). When chain is too long it will damage your sprockets as well.

  32. Geeman's World on December 10, 2020 at 10:02 pm

Lol whats with the pig tails

  34. Ryan Blanco on December 10, 2020 at 10:05 pm

    what bike is this?

  35. Will Jones on December 10, 2020 at 10:11 pm

Any bike you buy check to see if the eyelets in the rim are cracked or missing and if any part is missing. If a spoke eye is bad you need to re rim the bike adding more cost than you may want to pay.. meaning the value of the bike is lower….

  36. Ben Dickenson on December 10, 2020 at 10:13 pm
