BMX Handlebar Geometry – EXPLAINED

Next in the EXPLAINED series we have BMX handlebars.
BMX handlebars aren’t quite as complicated as frames, but there are still several aspects to be explained.

Excellent video! I’m planning on adding BMX bars to my hybrid ebike. Current bars are 1" diameter so I’m looking at this BSD FREEDOM OVERSIZED BAR. Wondering if there are others I should consider?

  2. Vic on July 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

I just got a 29.5 wide bar but it seems too wide for my barspin so I’m cutting it down to 27.5….

  3. Nazzy on July 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

What bars are those? And where can I find them?!

  4. Stœner on July 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

6:00 is the reason I came here . I bought a used bike that’s in pretty decent shape and the handlebars feel small so I have to hunch

  5. Mason Patrick on July 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

I have a question I’m 5’8 and I want s&m perfect tens do you think I’m tall enough

  6. F S on July 17, 2022 at 11:37 pm

So Odyssey Handlebars are around 80€ here. KHE Handlebars are around 30€.. with butted Tube Tecnology but which heat treatment ?!?
Would you suggest KHE Handlebars ?
What are you thinking about the KHE Brand overall ?

I am 6 feet tall and ride frontloader stem with 8" small Bars. Would you suggest bigger bars for me ? Maybe just a Toploader instead suits better ?

    You doing great explanation !

  7. aimcast on July 17, 2022 at 11:38 pm

  8. RubbishAtGames __ on July 17, 2022 at 11:38 pm

i’ve just started riding do you think the lower back pain could be caused to just getting used to the bike because i rode mine for 10 mins and my back was in bits

  9. Mr. Lawrence on July 17, 2022 at 11:39 pm

I am 5 ft 6 or 8. I am about to start bmx racing with a 22 in frame. What type of geometry do you recommend.

  10. Dark Entity on July 17, 2022 at 11:43 pm

I think I cut my basrs to short theyre about 26

  11. Sam Holt on July 17, 2022 at 11:43 pm

You know the hoffman handlebars you showed when you mentioned 6 piece bar? The set in the middle sells for $200-250 now that is nuts but they were the most expensive handlebar at my local shop going for $90 but they will last a lifetime but in the event you chopped your bars too short you can actually get replacement grip tubes for those bars. I use to want them so bad because matt hoffman rode them enough with my rant love the vids Brant 👍great job😵

  12. GLIZZY DEMONN on July 17, 2022 at 11:46 pm

  18. kreigthepsycho on July 17, 2022 at 11:51 pm

I’m planning on building a bike.
I’m 5 ft 4 in. And the only option for me is street since there’s no parks where I live.
What can you suggest? Sorry for the bother.

  19. Stanisław Kałwak on July 17, 2022 at 11:52 pm

  23. Gomez, Yves Martin Calnea on July 18, 2022 at 12:00 am

4° vs. 1° upsweep? I’m about to buy a 9.25 rise bar with 12 backsweep and 28.5 wide. What do you recommend for the upsweep? Thanks man! From the Philippines.

  24. aDAM oscar on July 18, 2022 at 12:00 am

its so crazy that you are the only one doing this sort of thing for BMX when there are millions of Channels for every other sport or smallest benign subject! keep up the good work! and thank you so much for all the information !!

  28. Patrick Rooney on July 18, 2022 at 12:06 am

Hey, I’m 5’7 and am thinking of getting 9.25" rise bars. Do you think that would help my hops and manuals as far as making it easier to pull up or harder?

  29. Ego def on July 18, 2022 at 12:07 am

Your bars are on a different level of ugly…don’t get me wrong i love your videos….but wow are those things butt.

  30. aslamS on July 18, 2022 at 12:09 am

  33. jemar cohitmingao on July 18, 2022 at 12:11 am

I got a small rise handlebar and I feel that I am not comfortable doing the bunny hop, especially rising the front wheel, can you help?

  34. Pineapple Kiwi on July 18, 2022 at 12:13 am

Lmao I’ve bent like 3 pairs of 4130 bars

  35. Светломир Видулов on July 18, 2022 at 12:14 am

    Tanks man!

    It’s very
I learned many things, that I didn’t know.
I agree with the low handlebars and pain in the lower back.

    I wish you good health!

  36. rgw1380rw on July 18, 2022 at 12:15 am

I’m looking into getting some new bars for my 2018 Performer. I’m looking for a 4 piece, mid school styled handlebar for customization purposes. My stock bars have a rise that’s slightly over 9 inches, so I know about what rise height I’d need for comfort. I want a little less backsweep on whatever trippy looking bars I get.

  37. Dirt Diggler on July 18, 2022 at 12:15 am

2020 if you see this. i am 48 and fixed a bmx bike. The bars where way Chicago forward, i pulled them back straight with forks. Seems hard to bunny hop this bike. even up a curb. Maybe push bars forward a little ? or Start lifting weights ? LOL hahahaha

  38. The Bike Hippie on July 18, 2022 at 12:18 am

My 4 piece hi ten bars broke at the bottom weld jumping off a 4 set. Very lucky the top weld held or I’d be missing my teeth.. Looking at new bars now. Not sure if I should buy 2 or 4 piece.. They will definitely be 4130… Although I am worried about my fork now. I’m not sure if it’s hi ten or 4130.

  39. The Words of Silence on July 18, 2022 at 12:18 am

How do I know what material in my handlebar? It is a used complete Wethepeople bike, that was about 430 Euros 4 years ago. The handlebars are chrome, but have no idea what material they are

  40. ランゴ on July 18, 2022 at 12:21 am

    thank you for subtitles

  41. Alexander Löfqvist on July 18, 2022 at 12:23 am

    which bars are that ?

  42. StreetDreamzTT on July 18, 2022 at 12:24 am

Thnx man. Slowly upgrading my bike. Think bars and fork are in the future. This vid gave me an idea on what the descriptions mean on the sites.

  43. Steve Morr on July 18, 2022 at 12:24 am

  44. ssj4ralo on July 18, 2022 at 12:27 am

I got a 20 inch Walmart bike and I’m around 5”7 what size handle bars should I get

  45. Doclorian Rin on July 18, 2022 at 12:29 am

What happened to 6pc handlebars. They used to be damn near a standard. If you watch late 90’s ESPN Xgames everyone was rocking 6pc bars. Why did the trend stop?

  46. yourmom705 on July 18, 2022 at 12:30 am

no wonder my free agent bars are lame. im 6’2 and there like 5" tall hahaha

  47. Say10x on July 18, 2022 at 12:32 am

What’s up with people cutting the width of their handlebars though? I feel left out when I see that I’m the only one riding with 30 inch width bars.

  48. Preston Knollenberg on July 18, 2022 at 12:33 am

Do you live in Nebraska, having all those nowear products.

  49. Ben on July 18, 2022 at 12:34 am

Chromoly steel is actually alloy steel grade 4130. The “30” at the end of the grade number designates that it has approximately 0.30% carbon by weight. Heat treatment is a different thing. Sweet videos man!

  50. Collin Blake on July 18, 2022 at 12:34 am

Maybe silly question how do you find your preference on up and back sweep without buying a bunch of bars?
