I’ve always viewed carrying a load on the back as a bad idea, mainly due to carrying grocery’s home, they weigh a ton in a backpack. When I go off on a trip on the MTB, I put most stuff into 2 panniers with additional camping gear on top. I put a small load on a front rack as well, it helps to balance the bike and increase traction on the front wheel, espec on the hills. Its more of a traditional bike touring set up, Ive always viewed the "bike packing" approach as another reinventing the wheel scenario, perhaps thats because I’m older and set in my ways however I always put the load on the bike, not my body. A pack on the back makes it a very wet sweaty place and the added weight on the backside, could lead to nasty problems, down under, as it were. I do think that keeping a camera close to hand is a good idea especially as you are in the media business and you are doing a dam good job. A few years back several Bears came thro my camp in Sweden, I did’nt have a camera handy, but even if I had it would’nt of been much use, I was too busy shitting myself.

While touring South Korea, I carried a camera and lenses in a handlebar bag, and tripod in a fork mount. Much like a basket, I could just open the zip in front of me and have instant access to camera.

I grew up on the south coast and we used to pronounce it ‘Boorill’ lake. It may just be a crazy family only pronunciation. Or it could be like ‘Jervis’ vs ‘Jarvis’ Bay. Anyway! I enjoy your videos, lots of incentive to go bike camping.
