Airless Bike Tires That Never Go Flat

Berlin-based industrial 3D printer manufacturer, BigRep, are introducing a whole new concept for bicycle tires. The company claims that they have created the world’s first 3D printed airless bicycle tire. Unfortunately, the cyclists who want to try it will have to print it themselves, as this prototype is just a concept design.

What keeps it retained on the rim if it doesnt have air pressure pushing the rim bead out? Wouldn’t this just roll off the rim if you cornered to hard?

Oh wow. They should make tires for cars and other vehicles too right? Wonder what happened, it’s been 2 yrs and I just saw this now.

30+ years I kept wondering why this has not become the standard for all tires.

The only reason we dont have these and still use stone age tubes is because the tube lobby prevents it

The question is: Is the material biodegradable? Is it harmful to the nature? Because the micro-plastic emissions from the car tires are a big problem because it get´s in the rivers and in the oceans.

Just put walls on them, why are all of these airless tires exposed to mud, rocks and what ever else getting jammed into them. Sure, holes look cool.

  13. G Heald on March 23, 2023 at 7:42 am

I suspect they feel like you are riding on a low tire with all the holes.

These would be horrible in mud, ice, snow, and rain. And they are not likely to last as long as our traditional rubber tires.
