Dirt jumper/ free rider for life here. Sure cross country is a good way to get fit/ increase endurance but it is not as fun. Speed is key, catching big air, way better. Also you cant really do a lot of jumps and drops on a cross country bike it would break.

Top 8 ideas why to not ride more crosscountry .
Great vid. People seem to be flocking these days to enduro bikes, or plus bikes with lots of travel, while forgetting a lot of fun can be had on the flats, or tight, twisty, undulating terrain where an XC bike excels. Not to mention uphills, which are vastly better on an XC bike.
If you’re not sure, try to test ride an XC bike with a relatively relaxed front end, or a little more travel, as opposed to a pure racer, and go for it.
If still not sure, I would tell people though that you can do almost all he was doing here on a regular Trail bike, as long as it’s not overly heavy.
Caveat emptor.
There is no XC, Enduro,Trail, AM…there is only Mountain Biking!
I’m not to happy with my xc bike today, I pushed it to its limits. I went off a 4ft drop, my rear shock bottomed out and all the force was transferred in to my feet, which resulted in a sprained ankle and now I can’t ride for 2 weeks.
I like eating loads of food.
Can only think of 8 XZd
ahhh.xc.what goes up,must come down;)

Done a mixed cross country yesterday, was too tight to put the fuel in the car to go to the local "trail centre" so just jumped on the bike and rode the bridle/by ways
But it’s a trail bike
You dont have to be a rich boy tosser with a trust fund and a 4×4
Questions.
Can I use XC for enduro race?
How high/long of a jump/drop can a full sus 100 mm aluminum safely do?
Why dont we call XC as enduro? Surely the endurance of XC is longer than that of an enduro.
Dude, I so just learned how awesome cross country is the feeling after climbing 2000 plus feet in a single session is one of the most rewarding feelings one could have!!!! Has anyone else felt the feeling???
I have a Marzocchi rear shock that does not really work. I can squish the shock a bit and that’s about it. I do not get any rebound at all and I think my rebound adjuster and the shock could be broken. What am I supposed to do? #askGMBN
1 reason not to. Its xc
#askGMBN Trousers for MTB? and if so what kind of disciplines conditions would they best be suited for?
