3. Mountain Bikes – Installing Your Front Wheel, Thru Axles

Flip your bike upside down, balanced on its handle bars and saddle.

Make sure the tire direction is correct by using arrow direction on tires or line up the disc with the caliper. You will have one of the three types of brakes. Slide in wheel then install the quick release or thru axle. Grease the threads and shaft of the quick release rod or thru axle before putting it through hub.

why all the youtubes video explains how to put back a wheel with a thru axle, I don’t care at this point. I need to learn how to remove the stock rotor and axle and how to replace them with a thru axle solution first.

The bike looks and rides fantastic••>share4.photo/diambackbike?ㅣ Assembling it was a minor pain in the you know what due to the useless manual that came with it. After watching a few YouTube videos, I was able to piece together enough to assemble it and learned a lot about the bike in the process. It does not come with a kickstand so you’ll have to purchase that separately. It also does not come with any tools but I have plenty at my disposal from the toolbox. Overall, I’m very satisfied with how the bike rides and am impressed by how well it looks given the price I paid.

I took my front wheel off and I didn’t realize that my axle was made of so many different parts, so it literally fell apart and I’m at a loss of how to reassemble it, I looked online and couldn’t find anything like it. My bike is a Giant made in 2007.

After I do this it makes my front wheel so stiff to move it’s like if the brakes are tightened onto it
