The 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup schedule was released today and Crankworx dropped their list of events, too. Since we love all things downhill at Vital, we’ll start with that info, but we’ll go through all of the major bits of news about the race calendar.

There are 8 World Cup DH races in 2023 with the first taking place in Lenzerheide Switzerland June 9-11.

I understand the media rights are no longer Red Bull and are now WB/Discovery but for the life of me I can’t find info on how to stream this stuff. Anyone have insight they could share?

Free or charged. That is the question ? 🤔

Why is the Downhill starting so late? Usually we have one in late April-early May and then a break before Fort Bill in early/mid June. I know Fort Bill has World Champs so will be later, but why aren’t we having the early round in Lourdes, Losinj or even Cairns or Brazil? No Lousa or Maribor on the calendar either, and the North American races so late they’ll be under snow by then. What a catstrophic start for Discovery.

World Champs should always be the last race of the season, just feels right to go out with a bang!

Wonder if the UCI will un-ban the use of studded tires? Or is this going to be the birth of plus size DH tires and fat -bikes replacing XC bikes. Gotta think of and create those new markets…..like DH on ice the musical.

    worst calendar never seen

What’s crazy is that I live in the south of the UK and to get to fort william it costs £480 but to go to the race that’s in France next year it will probably cost less 🤣

Bit of an odd one….hope the schedule gets revised for 2024 as it is better to have Canada, america and Scotland in the summer for any events at mknt saint anne, snowshoe and fort william!

Really odd choice for MSA. It’ll be cold there, no matter what happens.

I’m from Quebec and don’t worry theres 0 chance of snow or ice at that date. Although if it rains, theres a chance the track will be stupidly muddy

I live in Québec canada end my last day of riding this year is 6 november with a nice sunny 16°

Any idea who’s doing the coverage or has it turned into pay per view?

  16. Jeremy Ray on December 27, 2022 at 1:52 am

100% chance MSA will be a filthy freezing cold mudder. these people are idiots.
